I got rid of my faux-Christmas tree last year because I decided I just didn’t like it.
I want a small vintage Christmas tree but they are HARD to come by-when I do see them at antique stores they are never for sale and online they are more than I am willing to spend right now.
Since this year I am also low on space-I needed to get creative. I saw this photo via Affirmaison.com:
So beautiful right?
Well, I got a pallet from work (one perk), brought the pallet home, and got to painting. I did not stain the pallet because I was too lazy-sad but true.
The pallet didn’t look too good.
The pallet was too big and just didn’t pop the way I wanted it too.
I decided to just chop off the extra wood and leave only the “tree” form:
See how the tree is just leaning against the wall? I needed to do something about that…
Husband had the great idea to make a Charlie Brown -like tree stand, like this:
I was SO thankful for Husband, I wouldn’t have thought of this solution and Husband was on it!
So the lights were strung on the back and I used thumbtacks and nails to keep them in place. Then I placed nails carefully and hung my ornaments.
Husband and I had a sad thing happen this year: almost all of our ornaments are ruined. Our old house basement had a leak and leaked on our ornaments and ruined 90%. BOO!
Here is my final tree:
What do you think?
