The Little Red Owl

DIY ideas for home, health, & life

I decided my living room needed some more color and a clearer focus on my accent color. I have really liked the OMBRE trend but have yet to find a way to use it in my home.

Some examples of the trend:

For some reason lately I have not wanted to paint, so painting furniture or walls does not appeal to me currently.

I decided to get some inexpensive curtains from Ikea and try my hand at ombre.

I purchased these curtains:

I purchased teal RIT dye (2 bottles), followed the instructions on the bottle and got to work. To get the ombre effect I simple dipped the curtains in the dye 3/4 of the way, then pulled out 1/4 every 30 minutes. It was simple and low key and it seemed to work, take a look:

Every curtain is a little different but I find that charming and overall I am really happy with the way it all turned out.

What do you guys think?

They do brighten up your living room. It looks like the panels on the outside are a darker color than the inside curtains. It’s a new look that seem to work on your particular windows.
