The Little Red Owl

DIY ideas for home, health, & life

Last night while watching Game 3 of the ALCS I decided to make some art for above my new vintage chair.

See how empty that wall above the chair is?

This chair is a lot lower in the back than my previous chair so the wall feels super bare to me. I recently scored a blank, still sealed canvas for $1.00 at the thrift store so this was the perfect time to use it. My original idea was a Moulin Rouge quote and painted cassette tape icon-not awesome but it would do.

I started cutting out the tape icon and decided I wasn’t feeling the design. Next idea: (inspired by Mayer Hawthorn’s red heart shaped vinyl) record player with record in various colors. I did not take pictures of my process-I know, bad blogger.

I cut out a heart, some circles and got out the glue and Mod Podge.

Placed the paper where I wanted it and then got to Mod Podging (thats a verb right?)

And here is my finished product (after 3 coats of Mod Podge).
