The Little Red Owl

DIY ideas for home, health, & life

I was recently at Forever 21 and saw this sweater:

It reminded me of all the graphic sweaters I have seen on Pinterest lately:

sweater 1

and this one:

sweater 2

I figured I could make one myself, so I gathered my supplies:

plain maroon sweater

pink fabric paint

sponge brush

flexible mat

freezer paper

draw a heart shape (or whatever design you want)

cut out the design from your freezer paper

iron the freezer paper onto the sweater (shiny side down)

paint your heart (or design)

depending on how dark your sweater and the color of paint you are using-you might need to do 1-3 coats of paint

once dry (about 4 hours)-remove the stencil and admire your work

as you can see mine has a little spot that bleed through (since i did not iron carefully enough)

so i added a bit of paint and corrected the problem

here is the final product

the best part of this is it was free (since I used supplies I already on hand) and it is completely washable!

what do you guys think?
